Teresa Piwowar is the founder of aaOhm Natural Healing Center, where Optimal Health & Bioenergetic Harmony meets Beauty & Wellness Integration. An Integrative Holistic Practitioner since 1995, Teresa brings over 30 years of clinical experience to her work as an Acupuncturist and Classical Chinese Medicine doctor specializing in facial acupuncture, pain management, and whole-body vitality.
Teresa earned her Master of Science in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine and Bachelor of Science in TCM Nutrition from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science while preparing for national board certification. Her advanced training reflects not only academic excellence, but a lifelong commitment to mastering the medicine she practices.
Teresa began her career in health and fitness as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor before building a highly successful massage therapy practice after graduating from the renowned Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 1995. That pivotal experience shaped her clinical foundation in functional and lifestyle-based medicine long before “Functional Medicine” became mainstream. Her early work integrated movement therapy, Pilates, posture and alignment training, ballroom dance instruction, applied neurology, clinical nutrition, supplementation, homeopathy, Western herbalism, and non-toxic lifestyle strategies.
Known for her ability to “get rid of pain,” Teresa built her practice primarily through word-of-mouth referrals. She has worked extensively with adults, especially older adults and athletes, helping them restore mobility, reduce chronic pain, and regain strength and confidence. Her hands-on expertise includes trigger point therapy, myofascial release, active and passive stretching techniques, and corrective movement therapies—creating a comprehensive, results-driven approach to musculoskeletal health.
Five years ago, Teresa expanded her clinical offerings to include Classical Chinese Medicine. Initially drawn to it after discovering it was the only modality that truly supported her own health, she quickly recognized its profound depth and transformative power. What began as an addition to enhance patient outcomes evolved into a calling. Chinese Medicine provided the missing link—addressing root causes, regulating internal balance, and cultivating long-term vitality.
Today, Teresa integrates acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, facial acupuncture, micro-needling, nano-needling, and advanced wellness technologies with movement-based therapies and energetic practices. She is also a Qigong, Tai Chi and Yin Yoga instructor, focusing on restorative movement, she teaches group classes in clinical and community settings. Her multidimensional background allows her to bridge Eastern and Western frameworks seamlessly.
Beyond clinical practice, Teresa is passionate about education. Inspired by her mentors and the richness of her training, she is deeply committed to teaching the next generation of Chinese Medicine practitioners. She thrives in collaborative clinical and educational environments where she can share knowledge, mentor students, and contribute to integrative healthcare teams.
Teresa’s work is guided by one principle: when structure, energy, and lifestyle align, the body naturally moves toward healing. Through aaOhm Natural Healing Center, she continues to empower patients to live pain-free, vibrant lives—honoring both ancient wisdom and modern science in every treatment she provides.
